Happy Birthday, Frederick!
March 12, 2012
Last week we had the pleasure of shooting a documentary style short film at Frederick Gallagher's 1st birthday party! We were surrounded by the comfort of smiling faces of family members and friends as the exciting afternoon events unfolded. It sure wasn't your average 1st birthday party, at least, that we ever attended.
Among the many fun activities and events at this lucky toddler's party, the most popular was the Doljabi. What's a Doljabi, you ask? It's a ritual where the birthday boy or girl is placed in front of an array of objects that are believed to foretell the child's future. The child is urged to select an object as friends and family members eagerly await his or her selection. For instance, if the child picks up the paint brush, he is destined to be an artist.
Although the Gallagher family used many traditional objects such as thread symbolizing living a long life, a piggy bank symbolizing living a wealthy life, a stethoscope symbolizing becoming a doctor, a paint brush symbolizing becoming an artist, a whisk symbolizing becoming a chef, and a thesaurus symbolizing becoming a scholar, there was one untraditional object that was added - a Philadelphia Phillies baseball bat symbolizing becoming an all-star athlete!
Frederick's Doljabi was followed by trivia, a fun coloring contest, and cake and deserts. It was a great time! We were happy to take part in such a special celebration!
Come back to check out the finished short film and find out Frederick's destiny!

They're Fake!
February 23, 2012
To promote their new online dating website, the nice folks at JadedLovers.com came to Empty Bucket Studios to create a series of commercials for their new “They’re Fake” campaign.
This unique commercial series features our inanimate stars, Jenny4579 and RockClimber81, two mannequins posing as the most popular members of your favorite online dating site. Our plastic friends really help drive home the idea that up to 95% of the profiles on most online dating sites are fake – just like they are.
But not Jaded Lovers!
JadedLovers.com uses no fake profiles, no e-mail spam and no technological gimmicks to generate online search results. It’s no wonder why Jaded Lovers view themselves as the most honest dating site on the internet!

Time Shifting In Post
February 22, 2012
JadedLovers.com just recently launched a brand new website. To help their members better understand navigation within the new web interface, they turned to Empty Bucket Studios to create slick, yet informative e-learning tutorial video. Although we recorded many high definition screen captures in real-time, a lot of the magic happened in post-production. Utilizing various keyframing and time-shifting techniques, we timed everything as necessary to sync with the voiceover audio track.
Jaded Lovers prides themselves on being one of the web's most honest dating sites. They do this by using no fake profiles, no matching algorithms that don't work, no spam emails promising "New Matches in Your Area!" (which almost always turn out to be fake), and no technological gimmicks that are irrelevant to the real-life meeting process.
This video was created in conjunction with an advertising campaign of three web commercials. Stay tuned for more!
